October 29th

THIS WEEK:

  • Live Streaming via social media has seen a massive surge in 2020 and for this reason, Instagram is adding two options to its live-streaming feature. First, Instagram is extending the live stream time limit from one hour to four hours, allowing musicians, artists, yoga instructors and whoever else to connect with audiences for longer. Users will also be able to archive an Instagram live broadcast for up to 30 days.

  • Sprout Social has released an article called ‘Reimagining entertainment and the customer experience with social media’. It delves into the challenges that many industries (including the entertainment industry) have faced this year as well as the ways businesses have overcome these through the use of social media and digital technology. One of these is the live stream events, with two major examples being Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. The article also looks at connecting the audiences wants and needs with the content being produced. We recommend having a full read.

  • TikTok has announced its new partnership with Shopify and is a way for the platform to generate income from an area other than influencer partnership. It is not direct, on platform eCommerce, but rather, it allows Shopify merchants to run promotions for their products on TikTok. Through the Shopify dashboard, merchants can connect their TikTok pixel and easily track conversions, they can create campaigns and target audiences. They can also use TikTok intuitive creative tools to ensure the ads creatives are high quality and attractive to users. Finally, eligible Shopify merchants can claim a $300 ad credit (at no cost) to help jumpstart their first TikTok campaign.

  • Beat Magazine is telling us about what it’s like to attend a socially distanced gig. When you’re waiting in line, expect to see masking tape crosses for socially distanced waiting. Then, there are socially distanced bubble tables, meaning you can safely sit with friends but be socially distanced from everyone else. You’ll likely get an upper-body workout from dancing whilst sitting in your chair.  Plus, most venues are using technology where you can order from your table via smartphone, reducing the amount of contact with those outside your table bubble. One day we will be able to dance again, but for now, we will be dancing in our chairs and listening to some awesome tunes. For all our Melbourne friends, we’ll see you at a seated gig in the near future!
