  • Twitter has confirmed they are testing an un-send function for tweets.

This feature works in a 5-second window after you’ve pressed ‘tweet’, a bar will pop up with a timer giving you the option to undo the tweet before it turns up on your follower’s feed or in their notifications. Of course, you can always delete the tweet after it’s been published but this makes sure the tweet doesn’t reach your following at all. How many times have you posted a tweet and immediately noticed an error and then had to delete and start again? Is 5 seconds long enough though?

  • Yahoo Answers, the longest-running Q&A platform on the internet is shutting down May 4th.

The platform has been operating since 2005 and has hosted Q&A sections about anything you can think of. The platform and all of it’s content will be completely deleted this coming May, but users will have until July 30th to download any content from their accounts. Yahoo stated “While Yahoo Answers war once a key part of Yahoo’s products and services, it has become less popular over the years as the needs of our members have changed. To that end, we have decided to shift our resources away from Yahoo Answers to focus on products that better serve our members and deliver on Yahoo’s promise of providing premium trusted content.” This is the end of an era for Yahoo and a piece of internet history is being deleted.

  • LinkedIn has launched a range of new features for its users.

Firstly, they’ve introduced creator mode, which focuses on creators building audiences on the app. Creators can now use hashtags on their posts and profile to show what they talk about the most and highlight creators in the app. Alongside this update, they also have the option of adding a video to your profile banner to help engage with your audience. Finally, they have added the option to display your pronouns at the top of your profile, which will help creators further express themselves and their gender identities.

  • TikTok is adding an auto-captions feature to increase accessibility on the platform.

Creators will have a prompt on their screen before posting that will ask if they would like to switch on auto-captions on available videos. These captions will be automatically generated and be an overlay on the screen for those with hearing impairments. These captions will also be able to be reviewed and changed by the creator if the generated captions are incorrect.

  • Facebook has begun testing QR codes for financial transactions.

This will be added to the Facebook Pay features on Messenger and will allow funds to be transferred instantly once the code is scanned. This QR code can be sent to your friends and messenger contacts. Facebook stated this is to “make payments on Messenger even easier.” This is not the first time Facebook has experimented with QR codes in messenger, they have been used previously to make it easier to add a person on messenger. Does Facebook need to make payments even easier on their platform?
